Layla Abushamat is an endocrinologist and assistant professor in the Section of Cardiovascular Research at Baylor College of Medicine, and Director of the Cardiometabolic Clinic within Baylor Medicine Cardiology. Her clinical and research focus is on cardiometabolic disease, including the prevention and management of obesity, diabetes, and lipid disorders. Her current research applies genomics and metabolomics to personalized prevention and treatment of cardiometabolic disease, supported by an American Diabetes Association Cardiovascular-Metabolism Junior Faculty Award and an NIH NIDDK K23 Career Development Award.
