Dr. Syn is the James F. Kings Chair in Gastroenterology, Professor of Medicine and Pathology, Division Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Co-Director of the SLU Liver Center, Director of the SSM-SLUH Comprehensive Metabolic Center, and Co-Chair of the SSM Regional Gastroenterology Clinical Program.

 

He is a Physician Scientist and his Basic Science research focuses on pathogenic mechanisms of liver fibrosis. His Translational research focuses on extrahepatic manifestations of MASLD, and aims to understand why some individuals develop liver cirrhosis, and cirrhosis associated complications. His Clinical interests lie in the management of MASLD and Rare (Orphan) Liver Diseases, including Adults with Genetic Cholestatic Liver Diseases and he is the Founding Director of the SSM-SLU Hospital Comprehensive Metabolic Center.
