Dr. Naga Chalasani currently serves as David W. Crabb Professor of Medicine and Director of the Terance Kahn Liver Disease Research Program at Indiana University School of Medicine. He previously served as the GI Division Director (2007-2020), interim Chair of the Department of Medicine (2020-2023), and Vice President for Academic Affairs 2003-2005). He is the incoming co-Editor-in-Chief for HEPATOLOGY, the primary journal of the American Association of Study for Liver Disease. His research is focused on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and drug induced liver injury (DILI), two highly significant public health problems.  His research has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health since 1999.  He is the founding PI for the NIDDK funded Drug Induced Liver Injury Network and is the lead author for the ACG Practice Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Drug Induced Liver Injury. He published over 625 papers including 450 original papers, 3 Practice Guidelines, 52 book chapters/review articles, 35editorials/commentaries, 21 symposium proceedings, and more than 700 abstracts (Google Scholar H-index 128, i10 index 491 with ~ 83,370 citations).
